In addition to the sophisticated analysis that the new technologies and techniques can provide, an integral part of the InterMed care model is the increased patient interaction it provides through feedback and lifestyle coaching and education.
Feedback is provided for the patient and is accessed via a web browser or via the patient's touch screen device. The feedback is centered around an audiovisual display that expresses appreciation for the delivery of data and gives appropriate feedback to the patient including advice for the day's or week's activities,
recommendations for follow-up, changes in behavior when appropriate, and indications for physician contact when needed. InterMed maintains a large library of interactive educational and coaching modules that are customized to meet each individual patient's needs. These are delivered on a daily basis and the ongoing program for each patient is updated regularly based on the patient's clinical status and feedback. This feedback motivates the patient to continue to use the InterMed System and provides the basis to encourage patient compliance with medications, self care activities, and necessary routine care such as eye care visits and medical follow-ups. The content of each transmission differs so as to avoid boring the patient and to create an event that the patient enjoys. Not only is compliance thereby encouraged, but patient understanding of the disease and its management increases.
